I’m Matt Hicks, a husband and father of five from Melbourne.
Before I turned forty, my kids suggested that as a kind of mid-life “bucket list” challenge, I should become a wizard. It was a perfect fit for me, so I accepted my new destiny.
Leaving aside spells and wands, I take being a modern wizard to mean seeing the world differently and challenging what we accept as real or normal.
This blog is where I share the investigations and experiments, art and artefacts that inform and inspire my journey. From mythology, superstition and the occult, to science, technology and the mind, let’s celebrate the subversive and welcome the weird.
